What is Family Recovery Consulting?
Family Recovery Consulting is a personalized, family-centered approach to navigating the complex and often overwhelming realities of addiction, mental health challenges, treatment, and long-term recovery. It provides families with experienced guidance, practical support, and a clear strategy during periods when emotions are high and it can be difficult to know what to do next. Rather than focusing solely on the individual struggling, Family Recovery Consulting looks at the entire family system—helping loved ones understand what is happening, identify healthy boundaries, communicate more effectively, evaluate treatment and recovery options, and make informed decisions that support meaningful and sustainable change.
The work may include crisis guidance, treatment planning, coordination with clinical and recovery professionals, support during transitions between levels of care, family education, relapse-response planning, and ongoing case management. Just as importantly, it gives families a trusted point of contact who can help cut through confusion, keep everyone focused on the larger recovery plan, and provide perspective when circumstances become difficult. The goal is not to control another person’s recovery, but to help families respond with greater clarity, consistency, and confidence while creating an environment that supports accountability, stability, and long-term well-being for everyone involved.
What is a Recovery Companion?
The primary job of a recovery companion is to assist clients in early recovery to start a new life, free from drugs/alcohol or whatever negative behavior they need help with. It is important to note that a recovery companion is not a clinician. They do, however, provide individualized non traditional treatment for alcohol/drug addiction.
The majority of the treatment is provided in the environment of the client, outside of the traditional setting of a detox or rehabilitation center. The majority of sober companions are in recovery themselves and can share their personal experience with addiction and can offer hope and guidance to clients in early recovery.
The first 90 days after initial treatment in a rehab or hospital are often the most fragile time for newly recovering people. The risk of relapse is always present but can be effectively reduced by hiring a professional recovery companion.
What is Case Management?
Case Management is a coordinated, individualized approach to helping a person navigate treatment, recovery, mental health care, and the practical demands that often come with rebuilding stability. It brings the different pieces of a recovery plan together so that care does not become fragmented or confusing. A case manager serves as a central point of communication, helping the client and family understand available options, coordinate with treatment providers and other professionals, track progress, address problems as they arise, and make thoughtful decisions about next steps.
Depending on the individual’s needs, case management may include treatment coordination, appointment and provider communication, discharge and transition planning, sober living or outpatient placement, medication and recovery-support coordination, family communication, relapse-response planning, and assistance with day-to-day structure and accountability. The goal is to create continuity, reduce unnecessary gaps in care, and make sure everyone involved is working from the same overall plan. Effective case management provides both oversight and support, helping the client move through recovery with greater organization, consistency, and accountability while allowing the family to have a clearer understanding of the process and where things stand.
What is a Safe Passage?
Safe Passage Therapeutic Transport is a structured, supportive service designed to help individuals travel safely and calmly between home, treatment programs, hospitals, residential facilities, sober living environments, or other levels of care. Unlike standard transportation, therapeutic transport focuses on the emotional, behavioral, and logistical needs of the individual throughout the transition, with an emphasis on safety, dignity, communication, and reducing unnecessary stress during what can often be a vulnerable or highly charged moment.
The service may include coordination with family members and treatment professionals, travel planning, accompaniment during flights or long-distance travel, assistance with admissions and discharges, medication and personal-belonging oversight, and continuous support throughout the journey. The goal is to provide a steady, professional presence that helps minimize disruption, prevent avoidable complications, and ensure the individual arrives at the appropriate destination safely and with continuity of care intact.
